Katie started dancing as a toddler and over the years studied ballet, jazz, tap/clogging, hip hop, and contemporary. She served as Captain of the Davis High School Drill Team where she danced for three years. In college, she danced as an Aggiette on the Utah State University dance team, performing for events big and small (NCAA basketball half times to children’s hospitals and pep rallies). Post-college, she taught studio dance classes and frequently judged high school drill team routines and tryouts. After pausing to raise her family of three kids, she jumped at the opportunity to expand the dance program at Mountain West and get back into the world of dance!
Taylor is new to Utah and is so excited to be a part of the MWGA team! Taylor is originally from Alabama where she studied and performed jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, and musical theater style dance, as well as acro/tricks and tumbling. She graduated from Auburn University where she choreographed and performed with the Auburn University Singers. Over the course of her career, she has choreographed for over 15 different schools, studios, and performance programs, teaching hundreds of students of all ages and experience levels each year.
Our “why” behind what we do at MWDA is simply this: to cultivate a passionate learning environment where dancers are encouraged to find their love of dance and self! We want each of our students to love the process of learning and discovering their potential! Like the Mountain West family says, “We can do hard things!” Through hard work and drive, it’s surprising to see what you’re capable of!
“My daughter has loved the hip hop class! She always shows me the new tricks she’s learned each week. Honestly, I’ve steered her away from regular competitive studios because I’ve heard too many negative things about how they are. I still wanted her to get some dance or gymnastics skills if she ever wants to cheer or dance down the road though. I got lucky because she loves both gymnastics and hip hop. I’m happy that she’s happy and learning new skills.”

“From the moment Taylor greeted the kids for dance, they felt like they had known her for years! So intrigued that she came in and watched class. I wanted to be around Taylor because I felt wanted. I watched class and there were no behavior problems because Taylor had all the kids so engaged they didn’t have time to act out!”
“My son loves dance class. He comes out laughing with the biggest smile!!! I cannot tell you how much this class means to parents who have kids who usually don’t get these opportunities anywhere! I hope it stays forever!!”
